Swirling mists shrouding an ancient past don’t veil your call

Your eternal voices echo through space to hold me in thrall

The continuum of cosmic stardust is the odyssey you began

I’m your avatar who enshrines the genesis spark of our clan

Where I go may not lie in the direction of whence I’ve come

My silent precursors will find utterance in what I’ll become

Destiny yields to my stony will to pave the path before me

Magnificent bridges carrying me over chasms were built by thee

Helixes of your essence spiral in every cell of my being

I live by your code that I’m now charged with overseeing

Your tears, sweat, and blood soak through the fabric of time

I’m cloaked with a responsibility that is solemn and sublime

Your blessings have ensured that I’m not the last of our line

My hand rests on the heads of three new sparks who’re mine

In their guileless looks it’s your unshakeable trust that I see

As I’ve entrusted to them the course of our voyage after me

I rest in peace knowing I’m a link in a long unbroken chain

I’ll unite with your immortality when I leave this earthly plane

That inevitable end shall mark a welcome new beginning for me

As a watchful ancestor to the new gardeners of our family tree
